Years ago, the Town of Sturbridge set a plan in motion. Visionary leaders in town government and passionate members of our community joined together to create a master plan. This plan included historical preservation, expansion and support of small businesses and independent restaurants, creating community spaces and events, and expanding outdoor recreation.

Residential Connections
While Sturbridge itself is a destination, trails should not have to be a destination to our residents. It is the objective of our town planners to integrate trail systems and access pathways across our residential neighborhoods.
As our development progresses, the vision of an interconnected multi-network system that connectors neighborhoods, businesses, and amenities moves closer to reality.
Open Space Expansion
Located in the Last Green Valley, a low-light patch of Central Massachusetts into North Central Connecticut, open space is important to our values and lifestyle.
Through a combination of land purchases and land donations, equal objectives of preservation, conservation, and recreation are attained through the support of our community.
Environmental Sustainability
Through working with our Conservation Partners and our own efforts led by the Sturbridge Conservation Commission, protection of endangered species and vegetation is a key priority.
Our trails are built with a ‘conservation first’ mindset and trail visitors enjoy educational installations to showcase anything from natural habitats to protected areas to active composting.
Our future is bright
Well, not literally. You won’t notice any neon signs on our streets, but you will notice a nod to our historical significance, New England authenticity, and deep values of community and wellness.
As the Town of Sturbridge moves forward to inspire new generations of residents, a clear picture of the past will always be present in our rear view mirror.
